Mind Your Business...

Last night, as I was driving Sofie to dance, she started singing. Singing means that she is falling asleep. And under absolutely no circumstances is it okay to let her doze off in the car on the way to dance. If she does, she will do nothing but cry hysterically when you arrive at dance. Then she death grips your leg, and refuses to enter the studio. Not good.

So last night, when the singing started, I started talking. In the short drive to the studio, I talked about everything from the deer that may be in the park, to her favorite flavor of blizzard. As we left Belleville, a policeman had pulled over a car. I pointed this out to her, thinking that the flashing lights would excite her, and make my task that much easier. She raised her head to look at me. Clearly annoyed that I was keeping her awake, and said "Momma, mind your own business..."

Rylan's Book

I had to work most of the New Years' Eve weekend. We had 26 high priority samples come in, and they had to be completed before Tuesday. So we worked it in shifts. It made for a very short New Year's Eve weekend. One Day off, very relaxing...

While I was gone on Saturday, Wade set the kids to a few creative projects. Noah used his pottery wheel to make a vase. Sofie drew me a beautiful picture. And Rylan made a book for me. Every page he wrote a sentence about how much he loves me and the rest of his family. Awe. He read the book to me. And when we got to the last page, it had a large red B and a large red M... I was confused. I had known exactly what all of the other pages had said. So I asked him, "Rylan what does this page say?" And Rylan looked at me like I was slow, and he had to routinely explain things to me, and said "The End..." [Thee = B End = M] That's how he thought you spelled the end.

Where's Noah? Oh yeah... He took all the photos...

On the 26th, Wade and I hosted Christmas for my Mom's side of the family. It was a small get together consisting of our family, my brother's family, and my Mom and Bill. Wade and I made a Turducken. (If you are not familiar, it is a boneless turkey, stuffed with a boneless duck, stuffed with a boneless chicken, stuffed with actual stuffing. I have heard from several people that they are amazing!) I think it had a lot of potential if it had been cooked by someone other than Wade and I. We way over cooked it. But, everyone said it was really good. And it did taste good. It was just so dry. It was the death valley of the Turducken World.

As I said in the title of this particular blog, Noah was the photographer. He did a really good job. I particularly love this photo of Connor and Rylan. I changed it to a black and white. I loved it that much. Good Job Noah!
Sofie loves to have her photo taken. And this photo of her and Cam Man (Camden) turned out really cute.

Christmas Morning

Christmas Day was a quiet one this year. We woke up bright and early. The kids were anxious to see just what Santa had brought. Noah and Rylan were extremely happy to see that they had received RC Trucks. Sofie however, woke up on the bratty side of the bed. She walked into the living room, looked at her American Girl Doll and said "Me no want that..." What do you say to that? Wade and I chose to ignore it, but gave her a little talking to on the way to Grandpa and Grandma's about not being hurtful.
Rylan, even though he doesn't look like it, loved his cars. Noah and Rylan are both very good about realizing what could hurt someone's feelings. Two polite little boys, one little girl to bring up to speed...
Sofie amazed me on Christmas morning. She looked like she rolled right out of the salon. Maybe that's why she was so crabby. Good hair. Bad Attitude.
After opening gifts at our home, and eating a quick breakfast, we were on the road to Edwardsville. My Dad and Marge were expecting us for brunch. The kids love to see Papa Jim and Grandma Marge and were ready to walk out the door. After lunch, the kids were able to open their gifts.
Sofie wanted her photo taken with Carosn. I told her to lay down beside him for a picture, and this is what she did. :)

This photo is actually from Christmas Eve, but I forgot to include it...
